I work in casting for a mid-size entertainment company. I do everything from coordinating auditions to answering performer e-mails, from evaluating candidates to the actual hiring. I also do producing and management work at my current company, but my casting experience is why you're here, isn't it?
My expertise is mainly in casting live theatre, but many of the advice and answers here will apply to other types of auditions as well.
I have been on both sides of the table. I started my career as a singer-dancer-actor and went to school for musical theatre. After a few years of performing, I went back to school to finish my degree, but this time in Communications. I planned to keep an entertainment focus to my career, and I was fortunate to find work in my chosen field. Through a few different positions, casting has been one of my favorite parts of a job, and I look forward to helping my readers have wonderful and successful auditions!
